Massenet
Jules Massenet (1842-1912) was a French composer and one of the leading opera composers of the late nineteenth century. Born in Montaud, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire and won the Prix de Rome.
His operas include Manon, Werther, Thaïs, Hérodiade and Le Cid. He also wrote orchestral suites, songs, piano music and sacred works.
