Alfred Hertz
Alfred Hertz (1872-1942) was a German-born conductor, long associated with Wagner and with the San Francisco Symphony. He conducted at the Metropolitan Opera before becoming music director in San Francisco.
His early recordings with the San Francisco Symphony form an important part of Pristine’s catalogue, preserving one of the first substantial recorded legacies of an American orchestra outside the East Coast.
