Albert Sammons
Albert Sammons (1886-1957) was an English violinist and one of the most distinguished British string players of the early twentieth century. His name is closely linked with Elgar, Delius and the British violin tradition.
Sammons gave the first performance of Elgar’s Violin Sonata and was admired for his warm tone, expressive sincerity and direct musicianship. He also made important early concerto and chamber recordings.
