Sieglinde Wagner
Sieglinde Wagner was an Austrian mezzo-soprano and contralto, active in opera and concert repertory and associated with Vienna’s post-war musical life.
In the Pristine catalogue she appears in Kleiber’s Beethoven Ninth and in Clemens Krauss’s 1950 recording of Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus.
Her singing brought dark colour, clarity and Viennese style to repertory ranging from Beethoven’s choral finale to operetta.
