Teresa Stratas was a Canadian soprano, one of the great singing actresses of the twentieth century. She was admired in opera, song, music theatre and modern repertory.

In the Pristine catalogue she appears in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande under Ernest Ansermet and in Verdi’s Il trovatore at the Metropolitan Opera.

Stratas’s singing combined vocal immediacy, theatrical truth and extraordinary emotional detail, making even small roles feel vividly inhabited.

Her page is justified by career standing and catalogue context. Stratas gives the Met opera shelf a soprano presence of quicksilver nerves and human fire.
