Aubrey Brain (1893-1955) was a British horn player, one of the leading orchestral horn musicians of his generation. He was the father of Dennis Brain, but an important performer in his own right.

Brain played principal horn in major London orchestras and appeared in concerto and orchestral recordings. In the Pristine catalogue he appears with Adrian Boult and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

His playing belonged to the British brass tradition before and between the wars: clear, noble and controlled, with the horn’s dangerous edges made to sound inevitable.
