Franz André (1893-1975) was a Belgian conductor, closely associated with Belgian radio and orchestral life. He became an important figure in twentieth-century Belgian musical broadcasting.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears conducting Debussy’s Ibéria with the Grand Orchestre Symphonique de l’I.N.R.

André’s conducting, as represented here, sits naturally in French and Franco-Belgian repertory, where colour, rhythm and transparency have to be balanced with orchestral discipline.

His page is modest but justified. André gives this Debussy corner a Belgian radio-era signature.
