Enrico Toselli (1883-1926) was an Italian pianist and composer, remembered chiefly for light salon music. Born in Florence, he was active as a performer and wrote pieces that circulated widely in domestic and recital settings.

His best-known work is the Serenata, Op. 6, No. 1, a melody that became internationally popular in many arrangements. It appears naturally in historic violin and light-music repertory.

Toselli’s style is lyrical, sentimental and immediately communicative, designed for charm rather than large-scale argument. It belongs to the cultivated salon tradition.

Though his wider reputation is modest, the Serenata gave him a lasting musical calling card. Toselli knew how to make a small tune lean against the window and sigh.
