Giulietta Simionato (1910-2010) was an Italian mezzo-soprano, one of the great singers of the twentieth century. She was admired in Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi and French repertory.

In the Pristine catalogue she appears in Donizetti’s La favorita with Ettore Bastianini, Gianni Poggi and Alberto Erede.

Simionato’s singing combined agility, warmth, dramatic authority and extraordinary stylistic range. She could move from bel canto elegance to Verdian fire without changing artistic species.

Her page is essential. Simionato’s mezzo has velvet, steel and a stage brain of its own.
