Felix Weingartner (1863-1942) was an Austrian conductor, composer and writer, one of the most important conductors of the early recording era. Born in Zara, he studied with Liszt and made a major career across Europe.

As a composer he wrote symphonies, operas, chamber music, songs and orchestral works. His own music appears in Pristine’s catalogue alongside recordings that preserve his conducting.

Weingartner’s compositional style is late Romantic, clear and formally disciplined. It reflects the same respect for structure and line that shaped his conducting reputation.
