Mississippi John Hurt was an American country blues singer and guitarist, treasured for the gentle intricacy of his fingerpicking and the warmth of his voice.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears in The Man from Avalon, preserving a major figure in the blues tradition beyond the classical catalogue’s usual borders.

Hurt’s music is intimate, rhythmically supple and quietly luminous, built from guitar patterns that seem simple only until the hand tries to follow them.

His page is essential for the blues strand. Mississippi John Hurt brings porch-light grace and fingerpicked starlight to Pristine’s wider archive.
