Mildred Tyson is represented in the Pristine catalogue by the song Sea moods, recorded by Kirsten Flagstad in 1952. The available catalogue evidence identifies her through this specific song rather than through a large public body of work.

The piece belongs to the American art-song repertory included in Flagstad’s post-war recital recordings, alongside songs by Carpenter, McArthur, Rogers, Speaks and Deems Taylor.

Tyson’s music, as represented here, is lyrical and voice-centred, shaped for concise communication of text and mood. It belongs to the intimate world of recital rather than large concert forms.

This entry is deliberately cautious because the biographical record is limited. The page is justified by a secure historic recording, but it should remain modest rather than speculative.
