Adolfo Betti Pochon (1875-1950), catalogued here as Pochon, was an Italian-born violinist and composer best known as a member of the Flonzaley Quartet. His name appears in the Pristine catalogue through that ensemble’s historic chamber recordings.

As a performer-composer, Pochon wrote and arranged music connected with the string quartet and recital worlds. His work belongs to the practical repertory of musicians who lived inside ensemble playing.

His musical style, as represented here, is shaped by string craft, clarity and idiomatic writing. It is music from the player’s desk rather than the grand public monument.

Pochon’s historical importance rests chiefly on the Flonzaley Quartet, one of the landmark ensembles of early recorded chamber music. His composer page is therefore modest, but its identity is clear.
