Annelies Kupper (1906-1987) was a German soprano, active in opera and concert repertory before and after the Second World War. She was closely associated with Munich and the German operatic tradition.

In the Pristine catalogue she appears in Eugen Jochum’s 1949 Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, singing Eva opposite Hans Hotter and Günther Treptow.

Kupper’s singing was lyrical, warm and stylistically grounded, well suited to German Romantic and post-Romantic repertory. She brought feminine brightness and musical steadiness to ensemble performance.

Though not as internationally familiar as some contemporaries, she was an important German soprano of her generation. Her recordings preserve a voice shaped by theatre, language and line.
