Gladys Parr was an English contralto represented in the Pristine catalogue through Britten’s Noye’s Fludde, conducted by Charles Mackerras.

The recording preserves an important Britten premiere context, with Owen Brannigan, Trevor Anthony and the English Opera Group Players.

Parr’s contribution belongs to the British vocal and stage tradition around mid-century opera and church-music performance, where clarity, character and ensemble discipline are essential.

This page is modest but useful, especially because the recording itself is historically significant within the Britten strand.
