Pietro Nardini (1722-1793) was an Italian violinist and composer of the Classical era. Born in Livorno, he studied with Giuseppe Tartini and became one of the admired violinists of his generation.

Nardini wrote violin concertos, sonatas, chamber music and other instrumental works. His music appears naturally in historic violin repertory, where eighteenth-century performer-composers supplied pieces of elegance and technical polish.

His style is graceful, lyrical and idiomatic for the violin, standing between late Baroque inheritance and Classical clarity. It favours singing line and refinement over theatrical display.

Though now less famous than Tartini, Nardini was highly respected in his own time. His music preserves the cultivated tone of an Italian violin school built on poise, sweetness and control.
