Maurice Duruflé (1902-1986) was a French composer, organist and teacher, one of the most refined figures in twentieth-century French sacred music. He was closely associated with the Paris organ tradition.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears as organist in Poulenc’s Organ Concerto, with Georges Prêtre and French radio forces.

Duruflé’s musicianship joined Gregorian chant, French harmonic colour and organ-loft discipline. As a performer, he brought authority from inside the tradition rather than from the visitor’s gallery.
