Jonel Perlea (1900-1970) was a Romanian conductor, active in opera and symphonic repertory in Europe and the United States. He conducted at the Metropolitan Opera and other major houses.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears in Verdi’s Aida with Jussi Björling, Zinka Milanov and Leonard Warren, and in Beethoven with Friedrich Wührer.

Perlea’s conducting was direct, idiomatic and theatrically alert, particularly valuable in Italian opera where pace and vocal support must breathe together.

His page is justified by repeated catalogue presence and career standing. Perlea gives the opera shelf a clean Romanian-American podium accent.
