Karl Alwin (1891-1945) was an Austrian conductor, active in opera and orchestral repertory. He worked at major German-speaking opera houses and became associated with Vienna.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears in early Wagner recordings, including The Potted Ring, alongside Albert Coates and Robert Heger.

Alwin’s presence belongs to the interwar Wagner recording world, where opera-house practice was being captured in excerpts, adaptations and compact disc-side structures.

His page is justified by secure identity and historical context. Alwin adds a Viennese podium thread to Pristine’s early Wagner tapestry.
