Aase Nordmo Løvberg (1923-2013) was a Norwegian soprano, admired for the breadth and freshness of her voice. She became one of Norway’s leading singers in the post-war period and appeared internationally in opera, concert and recording.

Her repertory ranged from Mozart and Beethoven to Wagner and Scandinavian music. In the Pristine catalogue she appears in Klemperer’s Beethoven Ninth, alongside Christa Ludwig, Waldemar Kmentt and Hans Hotter.

Løvberg’s singing was prized for its clear Nordic brightness, steadiness and musical seriousness. She brought a poised, unsentimental strength to large choral-orchestral works.

Although less familiar internationally than some German and Austrian contemporaries, she remains an important Norwegian voice of her generation. Her presence in the Beethoven Ninth is a small but valuable window onto a distinguished career.
