Marc Blitzstein (1905-1964) was an American composer, pianist and writer, one of the most distinctive figures in politically engaged American music theatre.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears in Bernstein’s 1940s American music broadcasts, including material connected with The Airborne Symphony and other mid-century repertory.

Blitzstein’s artistic world joined theatre, politics, song and concert music, with a sharp ear for public speech turned into music.

His page is justified by composer-performer presence and historical context. Blitzstein brings New Deal electricity and theatre grit to the American shelf.
