William Kapell was an American pianist, one of the most brilliant keyboard talents of his generation. His career was cut short by his death in an air crash at the age of thirty-one.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears with Leopold Stokowski in Falla’s Noches en los jardines de España.

Kapell’s playing combined virtuoso command, rhythmic life and a vivid dramatic imagination. Even a small catalogue footprint carries considerable weight.

His page is essential. Kapell gives the piano shelf a flash of American brilliance: brief, intense and still burning.
