Ruth Siewert
Ruth Siewert was a German contralto, active in opera and concert repertory during the first half of the twentieth century.
In the Pristine catalogue she appears in Wagner and Bach, including Furtwängler’s Rome Ring cycle and Karl Richter’s St Matthew Passion.
Siewert’s singing brought the dark lower-voice colour and steadiness required by both Wagnerian drama and Bach’s sacred architecture.
