Lars-Erik Larsson (1908-1986) was a Swedish composer, conductor and broadcaster. He studied in Stockholm and abroad, and became one of the important Swedish composers of the twentieth century.

His works include symphonies, concertos, chamber music, songs, radio music and orchestral pieces. The Pastoral Suite remains one of his most familiar scores.

Larsson’s music is clear, lyrical and often neoclassical in outline, with a Nordic freshness of texture and mood. He could write with both formal discipline and approachable warmth.

As a radio musician and teacher, he also played a broader role in Swedish musical life. His best music has the clean air of a landscape drawn with elegant lines.
