Gianni Poggi (1921-1989) was an Italian tenor, active in bel canto, Verdi and Italian opera. He sang at major Italian houses and appeared in several important recordings of the 1950s.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears in Donizetti’s La favorita and Ponchielli’s La Gioconda, alongside artists including Ettore Bastianini, Giulietta Simionato and Maria Callas.

Poggi’s singing was bright, firm and idiomatic, sitting in the post-war Italian tenor tradition between lyric grace and dramatic projection.

His page is justified by repeated catalogue presence and operatic standing. Poggi gives these Italian sets a strong tenor line through the crowd scene.
