Paul Schöffler

Paul Schöffler was an Austrian baritone, one of the important German-language opera singers of the mid-twentieth century. He was especially admired in Mozart, Wagner and Strauss.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears in Furtwängler’s Mozart Die Zauberflöte.

Schöffler’s singing brought authority, clarity and Viennese stage experience to Mozart’s ensemble world, where character and line must remain in perfect balance.
