Erich Kunz (1909-1995) was an Austrian baritone, especially admired in Mozart, operetta and Viennese repertory. He was a long-standing favourite at the Vienna State Opera.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears in Furtwängler’s Die Zauberflöte, part of the rich post-war Viennese Mozart tradition.

Kunz’s singing combined verbal sparkle, charm and stage intelligence, with a natural feeling for comic timing and Viennese inflection. He could make character feel stylish rather than merely comic.
