Anna Kaskas (1919-2001) was an American contralto, active at the Metropolitan Opera and in concert repertory. She was especially associated with Wagnerian and dramatic roles.

In the Pristine catalogue she appears in Rodziński’s 1945 performance of Wagner’s Die Walküre, Act III.

Kaskas’s singing brought the lower-female weight and steadiness required by Wagner’s Valkyrie ensemble, where each voice must register within a blaze of orchestral motion.
