Piero Coppola (1888-1971) was an Italian conductor and composer, active in France and internationally. He was one of the significant recording conductors of the interwar period.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears conducting Prokofiev with the composer as pianist, and in Schumann, Wagner and Richard Strauss repertory.

Coppola’s conducting was clear, stylish and strongly shaped by the needs of early recording. He worked at a time when orchestral performance had to be translated into the tight frame of 78 rpm sides.
