Heinz Rehfuss (1917-1988) was a German-Swiss baritone and bass-baritone, admired in opera, oratorio and concert repertory. He was especially valued in French and German music.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears in Bizet’s Carmen under Pierre-Michel Le Conte, with Léopold Simoneau, Pierrette Alarie and Consuelo Rubio.

Rehfuss’s singing combined verbal clarity, tonal firmness and stylistic flexibility. He belonged to the kind of singerly craft that travels easily between opera house, studio and concert platform.

His page is justified by wider standing and catalogue context. Rehfuss gives this French Carmen shelf a grounded baritone presence.
