Jean Huré (1877-1930) was a French composer, organist and pianist. Born in Gien, he was largely self-taught and became active in Paris as a performer, writer and composer.

Huré wrote chamber music, piano works, songs, organ pieces and orchestral music. His work appears in the Pristine catalogue through historic chamber repertory for cello and piano.

His musical language is French, refined and exploratory, touched by late Romantic harmony and early twentieth-century colour. It often favours atmosphere and flexible line over grand public gesture.

Huré remains a little-known but worthwhile figure in French music of his period. His name belongs among those quieter composers who worked between salon, church, recital room and modernity’s half-open door.
