Kurt Adler (1907-1977) was an Austrian-born American conductor and chorus master, long associated with the Metropolitan Opera. He became one of the key musical staff figures at the Met.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears conducting Puccini’s Turandot at the Metropolitan Opera, with Birgit Nilsson, Franco Corelli and Licia Albanese.

Adler’s importance lies in practical operatic craft: chorus preparation, rehearsal discipline and the ability to keep large stage machinery musically aligned.

His page is justified by Met significance and catalogue context. Adler gives the Puccini shelf a working theatre musician’s firm hand.
