Hans Swarowsky (1899-1975) was an Austrian conductor and teacher, especially influential as a conducting pedagogue in Vienna. His pupils included a remarkable range of later conductors.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears in Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with pianist Hans Kann and the Vienna Festival Orchestra.

Swarowsky’s importance rests partly on teaching and transmission: the podium craft passed from one generation to the next through rehearsal, discipline and ear-training.
