Risë Stevens was an American mezzo-soprano, one of the best-known Metropolitan Opera singers of the mid-twentieth century. She was especially admired in French opera, German repertory and operetta.

In the Pristine catalogue she appears in Reiner’s Die Fledermaus highlights with Patrice Munsel, Jan Peerce, Robert Merrill and James Melton.

Stevens’s singing combined warmth, glamour and theatrical ease, with a mezzo voice that could move comfortably between opera house and broader American entertainment culture.

Her page is justified by career standing and catalogue context. Stevens gives the operetta shelf a dark velvet smile.
