Popper
David Popper (1843-1913) was a Bohemian cellist and composer, one of the leading cello virtuosos of the late nineteenth century. Born in Prague, he built an international career as performer, teacher and writer for his instrument.
Popper wrote concertos, salon pieces, studies and shorter works for cello, many of which remain important to cellists. His High School of Cello Playing is still a demanding technical landmark.
