Aulikki Rautawaara (1906-1990) was a Finnish soprano, one of the distinguished Nordic singers of the interwar and post-war period. She appeared internationally in opera and concert repertory and became especially associated with Mozart and Scandinavian music.

In the Pristine catalogue she appears in Fritz Busch’s early Glyndebourne Le nozze di Figaro, a landmark Mozart recording from the festival’s formative years.

Rautawaara’s singing was clear, poised and stylistically alert, with the freshness and discipline needed for Mozart ensemble performance. She brought both charm and musical line to the Glyndebourne style.

Her presence in that recording secures her place in the catalogue. Rautawaara’s voice belongs to the first bright constellation of Glyndebourne Mozart.
