This week we begin a short series of recordings by Jascha Horenstein, conducting music by the two giants of the Classical era, Haydn and Mozart.
From the recordings made in 1956 for the Mozart bi-centenary, this first volume brings you one of the the composer's finest masterpieces, his final Symphony No. 41, the "Jupiter". It's coupled with one of the most popular of Haydn's huge symphonic output, the "Clock" Symphony No. 101, recorded in stereo the following spring - both recordings made with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and truly exquisite!
