GOOSSENS in Cincinnati, Volume 1

We begin this week a new series offering the complete recordings of Eugene Goossens with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, made for Victor between 1941 and 1946. The first disc is dedicated to English music: Vaughan William's A London Symphony, Walton's Violin Concerto, with Jascha Heifetz, and Delius's The Walk To The Paradise Garden.

"Heifetz’s account of the Walton concerto is by turns immensely exciting and achingly poignant, something which could also be said of Goossens’ reading of the Vaughan Williams. Both of them feature versions of the score that were altered or cut in the later editions that have become the standards performed today, making these recordings doubly valuable." - Mark Obert-Thorn, producer
