Glinka
Mikhail Glinka (1804-1857) was a Russian composer often regarded as a founding figure of Russian concert and operatic music. He absorbed European musical models while seeking a more local dramatic and melodic voice.
His stage works and orchestral pieces became important landmarks for later Russian composers. He also wrote songs, chamber works and piano music.
Glinka’s music combines Italianate melody, French colour, German craft...
