Jean Fournier (1911-2003) was a French violinist and teacher, admired for chamber music and French repertory. He was part of an important musical family and a central figure in mid-century French string playing.

In the Pristine catalogue he appears in Fauré, Beethoven and Brahms, including recordings with Ginette Doyen, Antonio Janigro and Paul Badura-Skoda.

Fournier’s playing was elegant, poised and strongly conversational, with a chamber musician’s instinct for balance and phrase.

His page is essential for the chamber shelf. Fournier brings French violin grace without perfume-cloud excess.
