Italy's Quintetto Chigiano were one of the finest chamber music ensembles of their day, and were captured at their height in a number of superb Decca recordings. This week we bring you two examples of the very best of 20th century piano quintets, each work among its composer's most highly rated pieces - Bloch's Piano Quintet No. 1 and Shostakovich's Piano Quintet.
