MITROPOULOS in Philadelphia

IMPORTANT: Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak CD shipments may take longer than usual to arrive.

This week’s release commemorates a brief yet memorable collaboration between a great conductor and orchestra. Dimitri Mitropoulos had a close relationship with the Philadelphia Orchestra. For several seasons during the 1940s, he was the music director of the Robin Hood Dell Orchestra of Philadelphia, an ensemble primarily made up of members of the Philadelphia Orchestra less a handful of their first-desk players.

Here we present the complete recordings of both, featuring a wide range of works, including Beethoven's 4th Symphony, the conductor at the keyboard for Prokofiev's 3rd Piano Concerto, and much, much more in a wonderful 3-CD set!
