The Griller String Quartet worked closely with composer Ernest Bloch in the creation of his later quartets and would première all but one of his cycle. In 1954, under the composer's direction, they would record the then complete set of four - although they premièred the fifth they never recorded it.
Here we present those iconic 1954 Decca recordings of a group The Gramophone declared "comparable in stature only with those of Bartók and of Beethoven". These fabulous Ambient Stereo XR remasters breathe dramatic new life into these fabulous and essential recordings - unmissable!
