FRITZ BUSCH Verdi: La Forza del Destino

NB: Due to the current pandemic CDs may take longer than usual to arrive.

Fritz Busch's final recorded performance, of Verdi's La Forza del Destino, took place at the Edinburgh Festival of 1951 and survives in a recording of a BBC radio broadcast. Starring Walburga Wegner, David Poleri, and Marko Rothmüller in the main roles, it also draws on the Glyndebourne Festival company and a host of upcoming singers to magnificent effect. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is predictably excellent.

This fifth performance took place just two weeks before Busch's death. It was restored and remastered from tapes held in the Busch Brothers Archive in Karlsruhe by Andrew Rose for Pristine, and also features rare bonus tracks encompassing the entirety of Busch's orchestral Verdi recordings.
