Swiss conductor Ernest Ansermet was guest conductor over 3 seasons with the NBC Symphony Orchestra between 1948 and 1950, giving a total of eleven hour-long broadcasts from Radio City in New York.
This release highlights his championing of French and Swiss conductors, with over two and a half hours ravishing dedicated to the music of Debussy, Ravel, Chabrier, Honegger and the US première of Frank Martin's Petite Symphonie concertante. We don't think any of this has been released before - but it should have been: it's fabulous!
