Nathan Milstein Solo Columbias Vol. 1

"...he is above all a contemplative player, inclining to the quiet and the reflective. There is evidence of this in the exquisitely drawn melodic line of the Largo ... Here is an admirable partnership. This lovely quiet record is most earnestly to be recommended from every point of view." - The Gramophone, 1936

This week we begin a delightful new series of recordings made by violinist Nathan Milstein for Columbia in the US, starting with a selection of discs cut between 1935 and 1938 and featuring music by Bach, Vivaldi, Pergolesi, Tartini, Nardini and Vitali, all in delicious new transfers by Mark Obert-Thorn.

We also celebrate the recordings of Herbert von Karajan, who died 35 years ago this week, with a special discount on them all at Pristine running until Friday 26 July.
