CORTOT The Wartime Chopin Recordings

"Has there ever been a more bewitching or endearing virtuoso than Alfred Cortot? His touch (an old-fashioned word but one inseparable from the man) was of a crystalline clarity, his coloration alive with myriad tints and hues." - Gramophone, 1992

From the beginning to the end of his recording career, Alfred Cortot recorded the music of Chopin, a composer he had a "passionate predilection" for. Here we present his Paris recordings of 1942 & 1943 of the Etudes, Preludes and Waltzes in sound quality that finally does justice to the performances.
