Some of Fritz Busch's final studio recordings were made in Vienna in 1950 for the Remington record label, and these feature alongside a wonderful radio broadcast in this superb, fine-sounding release of symphony recordings.
From the studio we have Beethoven's Symphonies No. 3, 'Erioca', and No. 8, as well as Haydn's Symphony No. 101, 'The Clock', recorded with the snappily named Niederösterreichisches Tonkünstlerorchester. Alongside these, recorded during the same month (October 1950) as the studio recordings, is a live broadcast with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7. Busch had a very special way with Beethoven in particular, and these all deserve to be heard again in these new XR Ambient Stereo remasters.
