Toscanini's fifth and sixth all-Brahms NBC Symphony Orchestra concerts of late-1948 conclude our series of releases here in a third volume of immaculately-restored recordings make from superb source discs.
Every work here is a highlight: the Symphonies Nos. 3 and 4 are both brilliantly performed, as are the Haydn Variations, and Toscanini prepared a surprise for listeners with the world première recording of the Gesang der Parzen, sung by the Robert Shaw Chorale.
We also celebrate the 149th birthday of French composer Maurice Ravel, born in 1875, with a special reduction on each of the 35 releases at Pristine which include his music.
