The BUDAPEST QUARTET plays BRAHMS

This week sees the third outing in a project Mark Obert-Thorn has been working on for a while now - the complete pre-war recordings of the Budapest Quartet - one of the great pioneering string quartets of the 78rpm era.

This release offers a 2-CD slice of Brahms, covering two string quartets, two string quintets and a string sextet, all recorded for HMV in London and Berlin between 1932 and 1937. As always, Mark brings his unparalleled expertise to these superb transfers, and the playing is as exquisite as the music.
